The Road Home

“The road home or way, is about the journey.  It is about faith and trust in God. It is about a trust in community.  And it is about the balance of mystery and clarity.”

As we journey down the road towards home, we run into many obstacles.  Some stop signs, some caution signs, and often times, yield signs.  The road may appear straight and yet have curves ahead. The road may be wide and at other times it may be narrow with a soft shoulder.  Sometimes we may hit a few pot holes as we move along.  Yet through all of this we are not alone, we travel with Christ.

We do not travel always by sight, many times it is purely by faith that we go anywhere.  Its not by our energy or strength, but by the Holy Spirit that indwells us, that we are able to go the distance.  We travel the way, in community, fellow companions on the journey, always surrounded by “a cloud of witnesses” who have gone on before us.

All of us know where we have been.  We know the times that we were lost and now found.  We know our various starting points and we know our destination.  And yet the journey holds some mystery for each of us, with God showing us the way daily.  Daily we need to check the map and get our bearings, as we proceed up the road.

Today as we travel, praise God that he knows the way and is leading us.  Give glory to him that is sovereign and refreshes us with his grace and mercy.  Let us live each day on the road being steadfast and faithful with gratitude towards the one who calls us his own.

How are you finding the road home?  What sustains you on the journey?
