Step of faith

  Out of the boat

As I launch this site with this first post, I am reminded of the many steps of faith that have brought me to this point.  Some steps more difficult, but all requiring faith.  All beginning with a single step out of the boat.  In the scriptures, Peter sees Jesus walking on the water towards him and the others in the boat, but he desires to move toward Jesus on the water.  Jesus bids him to come and Peter steps out of the boat by faith, yet not totally understanding all that it entails.

The first step may be the hardest.  Just like the other times in my life, this step requires me to look beyond myself, my fears of failure and rejection.  It asks of me to lay those aside and just put one foot in front of the other.  Believing by faith that it is God who brought me to this point and God who will see me through.  I suspect that it is no different for you as you try to navigate your way through life evaluating different choices and options, questioning which way to go.

In this site I will try  to pull together topics and issues that allow us to consider those movements of faith, those movements toward God.  Space will be made to savor the times of connection with our creator.  Pause will be given that will allow us time to consider the times of friction that we rub up against in our daily lives, the places of hurt and injustice within our world.  Lastly, I hope to point out the places of contact, touch, and intersection with the God who loves us.

I certainly do not know it all.  My hope is that as you are moved by what you read that you will interact with me on this journey.  Please feel free to share your noticings and experiences with God as they fit within the context of the various posts.  I trust that in so doing, they will move us all closer toward God.
